Hot Yoga & Cold Plunge · Riverside
The YYZ Take
BHY has been running hot yoga in Toronto's east end since 2002. The Broadview location at 635 Queen Street East is the second studio, opened by founder Dana Dineen and carrying the same ethos as the original Beaches outpost: independent, women-owned, community-driven, and genuinely serious about what happens in the hot room. Walking in, it feels like a clubhouse someone actually thought about. Warm globe lights, a clean hydration station, a boutique along one wall. The kind of space that signals you're in good hands before you've unrolled a mat.
The 26+2 class is the anchor. Twenty-six postures and two breathing exercises, practiced in a room held at 40°C and 40% humidity through radiant heat panels and infrared technology. It is the original Bikram sequence, taught here without the baggage of that name and with considerably more care. The heat is consistent and therapeutic, not a shock tactic. The format is the same every time, which is the point: repetition is how you track progress, and at 40 degrees you feel every centimetre of it. Come hydrated. Arrive early. The room asks for your full attention.
The four cold plunges are individual metal tubs, and they are the right way to finish. The contrast between 40 minutes at 40 degrees and a cold plunge is stark enough to feel like two separate sessions. Between the two, BHY has built a genuine contrast therapy loop into a yoga studio, which is rarer than it should be. Membership covers both studios and includes unlimited cold plunge access, making the Broadview location a complete daily wellness stop for anyone living or working in the east end.
